I am curious if anyone knows what the numbers mean that are on the bottom of the leadpipe on a B&S Challenger II Bb trumpet. They do not match the serial number on the valve casing. Is it four digits, like 3137? If so, that's the model number. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet Selmer Radial Bb Trumpet Yamaha 6335S Bb Trumpet Besson 709 Bb Trumpet Bach 184L Bb Cornet Yamaha 731 Bb Flugelhorn

I recently purchased a B&S Challenger I with the Allora stamp on it. I emailed the company to ask the same question and was told that the number on the receiver is what they use for the serial number, not the one on the second piston case. Kent

Interesting. I guess it raises the question, what does the number on the side of the valve casing mean? It's weird they would s/n a changeable part like a leadpipe. _________________ -NYTC Stage 1 California Light Bb. -NYTC Stage 1 Flugelhorn -B&S 3137/2. -Bach Model 37* Bb 177xxx, Reverse Lead Pipe, Reeves aligned. -Andreas Eastman model ECN422 -Jupiter C

I'll double-check when I get home, but I think the valve block and pistons have their own serial number. I think the pistons have the same number as the block. Kent
